Girdwood to Kantishna in Style

This last weekend we drove the 200 miles up to the park entrance, picked up our pass and then drove 90 miles on the restricted park road. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. Everyone at KAT air was so nice and happy we drove out. The weather was on and off rain, but we stayed warm in our gear. My favorite part of the trip was when we looked over and there was a herd of caribou running at the same speed we were driving (25mph). It was so awesome and kinda hard to explain. The looks of the snotty bus drivers was great too! We saw a nice Toklat Grizzly, and I actually got a little scared when he showed some curiosity in us. We had a great trip and the bike ran great. Definitely up there on my list of cool things I have done in my life. Here are some pictures of the trip. Keep in mind it is slightly hard to take pictures on the back of the bike. Enjoy!

Knitters Unite!

Money in lost wadges ...$$.$$

Time standing in line...1 hour

Seeing the Yarn Harlot..... Priceless

This is one of my idles, Stephanie Pearl McPhee, aka the Yarn Harlot http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/. She is a knitter extraordinaire and a wonderful author. It was a highlight for me to meet her and one of the best events I have ever attended. I sat on the edge of my chair with a grin from ear to ear the entire time. I loved being surrounded by fellow knitters who share the same passion as I do. (Shout out to my new friend, Katie, from Oklahoma, hope you enjoy the rest of your trip in AK.)

Here are a few more shots from her reading. The infamous sock shot, and just Stephanie speaking.

Oh yeah, and I did the Alaska Run for Women. 5 miles! All proceeds go to breast cancer awareness and it was a very inspiring event. (yes, I ran all 5 miles)

Busy Busy Week

Wow, what a busy week. Here are a few things I did this week.

#1. I turned 30 and threw a party.
ere is a picture of the back of the deck, and then the inside. Note the rare appearance of Denny and even my good friend Cole.

My fireweed cake and the yarn cake made by Amy. Beautiful and delicious.

#2. Completed my second triathlon
(one hour 58 seconds, that's 40 seconds worse then last year, however, this year I didn't train.)

Below is a picture of me running for the finish and next, from left to right is Bridget, Me, Amy, and Heather.

#3. Got to show off Alaska to a few of OE's friends

This is Christinia and I outside our little cabin in Talkeetna. Christina and I rode the train up and the boys rode the bikes. A good time was had by all.

Now, I am back to my normal routine, and happy to be relaxing in the beautiful Alaska. I started my little container garden yesterday. I will post pictures as soon as they grow just a bit more.

Hello!
Welcome to my world. After years of reading blogs, I decided to make my own. Hopefully this will be a way for my family and friends to see what I am up to and what I am knitting. Hope you enjoy!
